What impact does vitamin B2 have on the Skin?

Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, plays an essential role in maintaining skin health, as well as in the body's general metabolism. This water-soluble vitamin is crucial for energy production in cells and is involved in various enzymatic reactions. As far as the Skin is concerned, riboflavin is involved in maintaining the mucous membrane and contributes to skin regeneration, which is particularly important for wound healing and tissue repair. A lack of vitamin B2 can lead to various skin problems, such as dermatitis, lesions on the lips and tongue, and inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes. These symptoms are often a sign of riboflavin deficiency, which can also be manifested by a burning or stinging sensation in the eyes, cracks at the corners of the mouth and increased sensitivity to light. It is therefore essential to maintain a sufficient intake of vitamin B2 to prevent these skin problems and promote healthy skin.

Vitamin B2 is found in a variety of foods such as dairy products, eggs, lean meats and leafy green vegetables. It is also often added to food supplements and Skin care products for its beneficial properties. In addition, riboflavin is often used in combination with other B-complex vitamins in Skin care formulations to maximise its beneficial effects.
