Chia (Salvia hispanica L.) is a plant native to Mexico producing small oval seeds.
These seeds with legendary benefits were an important part of the diet of the Aztecs and Mayas. Known for its many nutritional virtues, the Chia seed is naturally rich in Omega 3 and more particularly in Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA). ALA is the only Omega 3 labeled "essential" because the body is unable to make it itself. They are however necessary to its good functioning, that is why they must imperatively be brought by the food.
