In order to achieve your breastfeeding goals, you can choose to express your breast milk and store it so that it is always available when your baby needs it; if you go out or if dad wants to feed baby.
It's advisable to wait six to eight weeks to establish a breast-feeding pattern before introducing a bottle, to limit the risk of breast/nipple confusion. You can also discuss all your baby's feeding options with a healthcare professional or your lactation consultant, who will be best placed to advise you on the best time for you and your baby to introduce the special Milk feeding bottle. Extensive research has shown that baby suckling is very specific and involves three main stages: the movement of the mouth into the mouth, the peristaltic movement of the tongue (the baby's tongue moves in a wave-like motion) and swallowing. It is very important for babies to be able to perform this peristaltic movement of the tongue, as it encourages natural oral and jaw development.
The NaturalWave ™ peristaltic teat from Lansinoh® has been scientifically tested and encourages this natural feeding method.
Please note that no teat can guarantee to eliminate the risk of breast/nipple confusion 100%. This risk can be reduced by introducing a nipple-shaped bottle after 8 weeks. It is important to choose a teat that allows Baby to reproduce the same movements when feeding as when breastfeeding.
